How big is the group?

This is a small, private group departure hosted by our team. Space is limited, which is part of what makes the experience so personal.

What is included in the price?

Pricing is per person based on double occupancy and covers your safari transfers, 4x4 vehicle and driver-guide, park and conservation fees, accommodations, game drives, and meals on safari. International flights, visa, travel insurance, tips, and drinks are not included.

Do I need a visa or vaccinations?

Most travelers need a Tanzania visa and should review current health recommendations for the region. Your SXT concierge will send detailed guidance well before departure.

Mahale Chimpanzee Trek Extension

Extend your safari with a five-night journey to the remote Mahale Mountains, on the shores of Lake Tanganyika, culminating in two days of trekking to see wild chimpanzees, one of the most extraordinary wildlife experiences in Africa. With this extension, your international departure moves to Dar es Salaam (DAR). Includes: domestic flights (Arusha to Mahale, and Mahale to Dar es Salaam); accommodations with a full board meal plan; two days of chimpanzee trekking permits; all park fees; game drives as scheduled; planned additional activities; ground transfers; and professional drivers and guides. Excludes: gratuities for drivers, hotel staff, and guides. Note: the return domestic flight from Mahale is weather-dependent with limited service, so the extra night is recommended.
