Copenhagen: A Danish Christmas
There may be no cozier place to spend a December week than Copenhagen, the city that gave the world the word hygge. We wrapped ourselves in scarves and candlelight and gave in to the Danish art of getting comfortable, with twinkling lights, warm gloegg, and a city dressed in its festive best.
Day by day
Days 1-2
Lights and Christmas markets
We arrived to early winter darkness lit up by a million lights, diving straight into the festive Christmas markets and the famous illuminated rides of Tivoli Gardens, mulled wine in hand.
Days 3-5
Nyhavn and the old city
We wandered the candy-colored canal houses of Nyhavn, explored the old city and its palaces, and ducked into cozy cafes and design shops, embracing hygge between the cobblestones.
Days 6-8
A cozy Danish farewell
We savored a final few days of long Danish coffees, good food, and that unmistakable Copenhagen warmth-in-the-cold before heading home glowing.
From the trip

Tivoli's lights, Nyhavn's colors, and the deep, candlelit comfort of Danish hygge. Copenhagen in December is a masterclass in making winter magical.
