Solomon Islands: A Milestone-Birthday Dive Charter

Some birthdays deserve a truly epic celebration, and this one took a close-knit group to the far side of the world. The Solomon Islands are one of the planet's last great dive frontiers, remote, lush, and steeped in WWII history, where coral-encrusted wrecks and untouched reefs sit far from the crowds. We made it a journey to remember, with an Australian wildlife stopover to ease into the southern hemisphere.

Day by day

Days 1-4

A Brisbane wildlife stopover

We broke up the long haul south with a few days in Brisbane, cuddling koalas and meeting the wonderfully strange wildlife of Australia, exploring the riverside city and shaking off the jet lag before pressing on to the islands.

Days 5-6

Into the Solomons

We touched down in Honiara, the gateway to the Solomons, soaked up a little local color, and then transferred to our liveaboard, our home for the adventure ahead. As we cast off, the anticipation was electric.

Days 7-14

Wrecks, reefs and a milestone toast

This is why divers dream of the Solomons. We explored coral-draped WWII wrecks heavy with history, drifted pristine reefs alive with fish in water few divers ever see, and celebrated the milestone birthday in style out on the water, far from anywhere, exactly as it should be.

Days 15-17

The long way home

We turned for home salt-crusted and glowing, carrying the kind of stories that only come from a true expedition to one of the wildest, most beautiful corners of the Pacific.

Historic wrecks, untouched reef, fearless Australian wildlife, and a milestone birthday celebrated at the edge of the map. The Solomon Islands are not easy to reach, and that is exactly the point.
