Roatan: Liveaboard Diving in the Bay Islands
Roatan sits at the heart of the Bay Islands, where the second-largest barrier reef on Earth tumbles into deep blue water just off the beach. We spent a glorious week here, a night on West Bay to ease in followed by a liveaboard week working the walls, reefs and channels of one of the Caribbean's great dive destinations.
Day by day
Days 1-2
Into the Bay Islands
We touched down in Roatan and let island time take over on the white sand of West Bay, getting our gear sorted and our heads into vacation mode before moving to our liveaboard for the week ahead.
Days 3-8
Walls, reef and warm blue water
From our floating base we dove the Bay Islands to the fullest: sheer walls draped in sponges and black coral, healthy reef alive with turtles and eels, and the kind of warm, gin-clear water that makes Roatan a perennial favorite. Easy diving, big smiles, and a tight-knit group by the end.
Day 9
Farewell to Roatan
We surfaced from our final dive salty and sun-soaked, already trading wish lists for the next trip as we said goodbye to the Bay Islands.
From the trip

Dramatic walls, warm Caribbean water and the laid-back charm of the Bay Islands. Roatan is the kind of place that delivers world-class diving without ever losing its easygoing soul.
