Paso Robles is California wine country with the volume turned down and the charm turned up, all rolling oak-studded hills and unpretentious tasting rooms. We slipped away for a long weekend of private pours, local olive oil, and the kind of easy good time that only a central-coast wine trip with friends delivers.
Day by day
Day 1
Into Paso
We rolled into Paso and started as one should, with an olive-oil tasting and a private reserve pour, then a relaxed dinner in. The weekend was off to exactly the right start.
Day 2
A full day of tastings
We made a proper day of it, working through private tastings across the region's rolling vineyards, with gelato breaks, a tucked-away speakeasy, and plenty of laughs between pours.
Day 3
More wine, more central coast
We squeezed in a few final tastings and soaked up the laid-back central-coast vibe before reluctantly pointing for home.
From the trip
Rolling vineyards, generous pours, local olive oil and great company. Paso Robles is the perfect reminder that some of the best escapes are short, sweet, and close to home.
