Bahamas: Liveaboard Diving the Exuma Cays
The Bahamas turns the ordinary idea of clear water into something almost cartoonish: a thousand shades of blue stretching to the horizon. We spent a week on a liveaboard threading the remote Exuma Cays, diving with sharks, dropping down walls, and surfacing into that endless Bahamian blue between dives.
Day by day
Days 1-2
A night in Nassau
We eased into island time with a night in Nassau, soaking up the color and energy of the Bahamian capital before moving to our liveaboard, our home base for a week of diving the cays.
Days 3-7
Diving the Exuma Cays
From our floating base we worked our way through the Exumas: reef-shark dives that get the heart pounding, healthy coral walls dropping into the blue, and the occasional swim-through and blue hole. Between dives there was nothing but sun decks, flat calm water, and the easy rhythm of life at sea. The week closed with a captain's dinner, photos and awards.
Day 8
Farewell to the blue
We surfaced from a final dive reluctant to leave, salty and sun-drunk, already comparing notes on favorite moments as we turned for home.
From the trip

Sharks, walls, swim-throughs and the most absurdly blue water on the planet. The Exuma Cays are the Bahamas at their wildest, and a liveaboard is the only way to truly drink them in.
