La Paz Adventure 2019

To say we were excited for this fall getaway to the Sea of Cortez would be an understatement! La Paz is one of those rare places where the desert meets the sea in a spectacular display of life. We spent a week immersing ourselves in what Jacques Cousteau famously called the 'World's Aquarium,' striking the perfect balance between high-octane diving and the relaxed, boutique pace of Baja life. From the moment we touched down and began the scenic drive north, we knew this was going to be a week defined by incredible marine encounters and even better company.

Day by day

Day 1

Arrival in Baja

After landing in Los Cabos, we embarked on a scenic transfer across the desert. We made sure to break up the journey with a legendary stop for snacks and refreshments along the route. By late afternoon, we settled into our waterfront home for the week, allowing everyone time to unpack, hit the pool, and get into 'vacation mode' before an orientation dinner overlooking the marina.

Day 2

The Adventure Begins

We kicked off our first day of diving in the Sea of Cortez. The rhythm of the week established itself quickly: a hearty breakfast followed by a short transfer to our dive boat. After a day of exploring the local reefs, we gathered for a group dinner at a local favorite known for its fresh seafood and vibrant atmosphere.

Day 3

Malécon Evenings

Another spectacular day on the water exploring the diversity of La Paz's dive sites. In the evening, we took a stroll along the famous Malécon, the city's iconic boardwalk. We enjoyed the sea breeze and selected a spot for a relaxed dinner where the local flavors of Mexico really shone through.

Day 4

Birthdays & Mobula Magic

This was a day of true celebration. After our daytime dives, we returned to the resort to rest up for a very special event: a Mobula Ray Night Dive. Watching these graceful rays dance through the water under the dive lights is a bucket-list experience that left everyone buzzing with excitement.

Day 5

Sushi & Sea Breezes

The diving continued to impress with clear waters and abundant life. After three dives, we shifted gears for dinner, enjoying a fantastic selection of Japanese sushi and sashimi, proving that the culinary scene in La Paz is just as diverse as its reefs.

Day 6

Beach BBQ & City Nights

Our final day of diving featured a highlight of the trip: a delicious BBQ lunch served right on the beach between dives. There is nothing quite like the taste of fresh food with your toes in the sand. We toasted to our last day on the water with a celebration on the town, exploring the local nightlife and wine bars.

Day 7

Island Exploration & Kayaking

For our final full day, guests chose their own adventure. Some headed out to the protected Espiritu Santo National Park to admire its unique geology and history, while others took to the water in sea kayaks or simply spent the day lounging by the pool. We ended the journey with a farewell taco feast to celebrate the memories made.

Day 8

Bittersweet Goodbyes

We enjoyed one last breakfast together before our transfers back to the airport. It was a bittersweet departure after such an incredible week of marine life and friendship in paradise.

From the travelers

The mobula night dive was one of the most incredible things I've ever seen. It felt like watching an underwater ballet.

A Traveler

This trip was the perfect balance of world-class diving and great social time. The beach BBQ was the cherry on top!

A Traveler

Baja has a way of staying with you long after the sand has been washed off your gear. Between the playful sea lions of the islands and the mesmerizing dance of the mobulas under the lights, this trip reminded us why we love sharing these remote corners of the world. We are already looking forward to our next adventure into the blue!
