Course Closed: Most of the course is set and is now off limits to racers. The one exception is the Lake Shore Trail. If you arrive early, check it out. It is a great mountain bike trail.
Staging: All gear will stage at the Start/Finish. You will be allowed to stage any legal gear at the Start/Finish TA. Please do not stage out of your vehicle..... Yes you may have a bin.
PFD's: You will not have to swim to clear this course. However, anytime you are on the water or in the water you must have on a PFD. If you plan on being in or on the water you are responsible for wearing a PFD.
Gear Security: We will only be watching your gear at the Start/Finish TA. You will have the option to drop bikes or boats and go on foot so bring a lock if you are worried about stolen gear. Personally, I just toss my gear in the brush and try to remember where I left it.
Map: There will be one race map per team and it will be 1:24,000 scale. Be prepared to plot UTM coordinates before and during the race.
Safety: A very important safety skill is to know how to figure out the coordinates of your location in case of an emergency where you needed to give your location to Search and Rescue. If you do not know how to do this please learn how before the race or let us know at check in so we can give you a quick lesson. This is a required skill.
Rules: We will be following USARA rules. Please be familiar with them before the race.
USARA Membership: If you are a USARA member you must have your membership card at registration. If you do not have a USARA membership card at registration you will have to pay an $8 one day membership.
Banquet: At race registration you will be given the location for the post race banquet. Be sure to come to the banquet. It is a very nice facility and there will be homemade sausage lasagna, spinach lasagna, bread sticks and salad. More importantly, it is a great time to catch up with old friends, meet new friends and find out how you did in the race. The first ever KYTAR award will be awarded at the banquet. Sorry, no alcohol allowed.
Team Up: We do have one soloist looking to join a team. Please let me know if you can use another team member or need a team.
